Acroustic Poem

Aspergers is what they say I suffer from.
Startled very easily.
Problems with taking others point of view.
Everyone seems to worry about how I behave.
Routines are a big part of my day.
Great tendency for compulsive behavior.
Enigma to class mates
Relationships are hard to develop.
Smart, maybe smarter than you.

1. Voice- The poem is written in the voice of a younger child with aspergers.
2. Audience- The poem is written to the public.
3. Say Back- The poem is describing characteristics of a child with aspergers. It also describes the child's emotional side by telling how he feels
4. Bless- I like the line "Smart, maybe smarted than you" I choose this line becuase it lets the reader be aware that a person with aspergers does not have deficits in all areas- they are often extremely gifted in specific areas.
5. Address: I choose the line: "Everyday is a challenge" as the line you may want to consider addressing because I think this statement could paint a negative picture in the readers mind about aspergers. Especially for those that know nothing about the disorder. It really is more of a challenge for the parents or caregivers rather than the individual.

1. Voice: The poem is in the voice of a child with asperger's.

2. Audience: The poem is written to the public.

3. Say Back: The poem is discussing how the child feels and how Asperger's effects his everyday life.

4. Bless: I really like the last line "Smart, maybe smarter than you." So many people believe that people with autism are not intelligent, when really they are often very intelligent.

5. Address: You might want to include the fact that the child has Asperger's in your poem. I realize that you are using the word to start each line, but it would make it clearer if you included it in the actual poem.
